In The News

Booklist (starred review): Another fast-paced and gripping thriller from Chavez . . . What really happened is revealed amidst the choking smoke, and it is as complicated as it is compelling. Readers will have to really pay close attention with this one, and resist the urge to jump ahead to find out just what is going on. A perfect beach read.

Library Journal (starred review): The story is an intense, high-stakes thriller that also explores what it means to be a family and the lengths to which one will go in order to keep that dynamic intact and safe. Fans of suburban thrillers or of Lisa Unger and Alex Finlay will want to read this one.

Booklist (starred review): Before She Finds Me is intricately plotted and wildly exciting. Despite the inherent rivalry between Julia and Ren, both women are similarly beguiling and flawed characters. The changes in points of view allow for backstory to be revealed while still moving the pace along. Recommended for readers of the gritty, complex thrillers by Ruth Ware, Paula Hawkins, and Gillian Flynn.

BookPage (starred review): With its cinematic pacing and fascinating protagonists, Before She Finds Me is a fresh and surprising thriller.

In a starred review, Booklist says, “An extraordinary thriller… that may well become the book everyone is talking about…In a mesmerizing first-person narrative, [Cassie’s] fear is palpable, then vanquished by an astonishing ferocity she finds within herself. Where does that come from? Wait until you find out. This one glows in the dark.”

Publisher’s Weekly says, “Chavez is in full command of plot and pacing.” Read the full review.
